EVEN when you think you know all there is to know about Snapchat, there is probably still more to discover.
Here are some tips and hacks on the app that will help take your Snapchatting game to the next level…
What hidden features does Snapchat have?
Zoom in on videos using just one hand
Did you know that there is a way to zoom in on videos without requiring two hands?
Usually you hold down the record button and then pinch in and out using two fingers on your other hand.
However, you can also zoom by simply sliding your thumb up to zoom in.
Slide it back down to the record button to zoom out.
Save your data and battery using Travel Mode
Prevent Snapchat draining down your battery by switching on the Travel Mode.
This can be found under Snapchat settings. Click on “manage” and then “additional services” to enable this feature.
It works by not automatically downloading Snaps or Stories, so you’ll have to click on each individual one you wish to load and view.
Use more than one filter
One you have taken a picture, many people swipe right and left to add a coloured filter or a tag that shows the time or temperature.
You can actually use three filters at one time, and it is done by holding down your fingers on the screen.
Select your first filter as normal, then hold down a finger to be able to select a second filter.
Repeat this with an extra finger to get a third filter to be able to customise your Snap even more.
Make sure the feature is turned on by heading to settings and clicking on “manage” and then “additional services” to toggle the Filters section on.
Call your friends via Snapchat
You don’t have to rely on Skype or Facetime if you’d prefer to use Snapchat.
Click on a contact as if you were writing a message to them, and then select the phone icon to ring them.
If they aren’t free to take your call, you can simply send them a video lasting up to ten seconds using the video icon at the bottom.
Make your own stickers
If you have a favourite meme or viral picture, why not add it to your photos to take them to the next level?
Take a photo on your phone, or upload one from your camera roll.
Then click the scissors icon and use your finger to “cut out” the outline of what you want to make into a custom sticker.
It will be saved automatically to your Snapchat collection.
Then take a Snapchat photo as normal, and select the stickers icon.
You can then add your own creation to your photo.
Create your own filters for events
You are able to quickly create a personalised filter for events such as weddings and birthdays.
Simply customise your desired filter with text, colours, Bitmojis or uploaded images, and then select the region you want it to be picked up in.
You can then choose the time you want it activated and then you can pay on the website.
Prices start from a couple of pounds for 24 hours in a small radius, and they rise depending on the scale and length of time.
Check if someone follows you
You don’t get notified if someone removes you as a friend, but there is a way to check if they have.
Head to the screen that shows their Snapscore, and if there is a number present, they follow you.
If there isn’t a number next to their username, they don’t follow you.
Send Snapchats even if you don’t have internet
If you are on holiday without internet access or waiting to get back on Wi-Fi, you can still send Snapchats.
They will simply be saved with a “Tap to retry” message next to them.
You can send them all when you are back on an internet connection.
