Security updates for the month of March are ready to roll out, at least if you’re on a supported device. As always, these updates are ready to go for Google devices, including the Pixel line and some Nexus phones, and the builds will be available for OEMs to work into their own products soon. Hopefully soon, anyway.

Better security and bug fixes are the primary focus of these updates, but the Pixel 3 is also supposedly getting a few performance enhancements with this update. The phone should boot up faster, the camera should be a little less sluggish, and read/write performance is better across the board, so you should legitimately feel your phone run better after this patch.

Essential has also deployed the update already to their device, bringing the Essential Phone to Android Pie, including security enhancements plus Google’s Digital Wellbeing support.

The Android enthusiasm started with the original Motorola Droid, but the tech enthusiasm currently covers just about everything. He likes PC gaming, Lenovo’s Moto Z line, and a good productivity app.
