The monthly security update for Android for March 2018 has been released by Google. As is their normal method, the initial release is available for Nexus and Pixel devices through an over-the-air update or via factory images that users can download and flash onto their devices. At some point in the future the update will ostensibly roll-out to devices from other manufacturers.

The update for March does not appear to be a big one. Outside of addressing potential security holes, three updates are included in this month’s patch, all of them aimed at the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The updates include improvements to screen waking when a user opts for fingerprint unlock, improved audio performance when users are recording video, and better crash reporting.

The update files are available for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, the Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X. Currently no update is available for the Pixel C, but that could be forthcoming. Google also released some specific builds for the Nexus 6P for Softbank and the Nexus 5X on Softbank and Telstra.
