The way Rockstar Games reveals things about the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 is quite fascinating. Unlike other studios who love to bombard us with constant updates, videos, and whatnot, the NYC-based developer is being more methodical with the way it doles out information. Today, the Rockstar Twitter account has released a bunch of images for the characters players meet in Red Dead Redemption 2. Some are familiar faces, while others are entirely new. This is yet another big tease, but it does give us some insight into what to expect when it comes to the game’s large cast.
Returning characters include John Marston, his wife, Abigail Roberts, and their son, Jack Marston. Bill Williamson and Dutch van der Linde also make a comeback. Since this is a prequel, all of the above characters are noticeably younger, especially Jack Marston who is just a child. Then there are new faces like Hosea Matthews, Molly O’Shea, Susan Grimshaw, and Pearson. We don’t know what their roles are, but given the gang-centric nature of the game, it’s safe to assume some of them will either be in or support your posse. Some may even be (and probably are) enemies of protagonist Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang. You can see all of the character images right below.
I appreciate the fact Rockstar Games always uses hand drawn pictures to promote their titles. Many companies opt to advertise their products with overly-produced CG images. While some do look great, most of them end up looking rather generic. The pictures Rockstar uses for promos and box art are visually striking and do a fantastic job of standing out from the crowd. Any of these images would make a great wallpaper on one’s computer.
